Video: Test Driving Pure Vision’s “Preproduction” 1968 Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger has always been an iconic muscle car. We think majority of people would agree that the second generation Charger (1968-1970) could be named as the best or at least the most popular Charger ever. We stumbled across a 1968 Charger that might just be one of the best built Chargers we have ever seen.

While cruising through YouTube one morning we came across AutotopiaLA. The channel features a variety of cars including many muscle cars. This particular episode was showcasing a Steve Strope & Pure Vision built 1968 Charger. The car tops our list not only because of the quality, but because of the details and reasoning behind each one.

Steve wanted the car to resemble a ’70s era car but refined. One of the biggest upgrades was installing Reilly Motorsports AlterKtion and Street-Lynx front and rear suspensions. This allowed the giant B-body drive like a modern day car but still keep a beautiful stance without being slammed. The suspension also shaved some weight and made room for huge 528 Hemi.

Stepping into the drivers seat you might notice a few subtle changes but ones that we wish were made at the factory years ago. The biggest change is the positioning of the gauges. Steve and Pure Vision were able to rearrange the gauges because of Shannon at Redline Gauge Works. Shannon worked his magic of modernizing the Rallye gauges and Tik-Tok-Tac while keeping the factory look.

There are many more details that we will let Steve explain in the video. He is a genius when it comes to building cars. The time and research Steve invests when building a car really shows in the final product. Everything has a purpose on his cars and the parts he chooses all play a specific role. Enjoy the video and let us know what you think of this 1968 Charger build.
