Some months back, I brought home this 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger which we may or may not call "Noah's Dart." It had reportedly been through a flood, and sat in a yard being eaten by blackberries for years until I picked it up. The rebuilt 360 engine under the hood was seized solid, but after a good bit of coaxing, soaking, and abuse, I was able to get the crankshaft spinning again. In a followup video, despite finding the compression to be quite low in most of the cylinders, I managed to get it fired up, and even drove it a block or two. At the end of all that, it became very apparent that the transmission was unhappy - and the fluid exploding out of the dipstick tube onto the headers slightly caught on fire. My initial plan was to rebuild the 360 under the hood, as I had been told that it contained some choice performance pieces. At some point, I decided on a 383 big block swap instead, and that's good - because it turns out this 360 is complete garbage. Let's crack it open and take a look.

This video shows the removal of the 727 Mopar transmission from my race setup after a series of bracket racing and nitrous. Last year Drew built this transmission and I ran it with the SFI-approved 727 Mopar bellhousing from Cope Racing Transmissions. The setup has held up great through a lot of abuse at the track. Now I'm pulling it back out so I can upgrade to a Cope Racing Transmissions transbrake valvebody. During the removal I also point out a couple fitment quirks I ran into when installing the case originally, just to help anyone else doing a similar build. Nothing major — just the kind of small things you discover when building and running race parts in the real world. Huge thanks to @CopeRacingTransmissions for the parts and support.
